In October 2023, the School of Health Sciences (SHS) at the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign across all MUBS campuses and NWN centers. The aim of the event was to raise awareness about breast cancer, highlight the importance of early detection, and empower survivors of this disease.
Under the guidance of SHS, MUBS students and staff from various campuses came together in solidarity to demonstrate their commitment to combating breast cancer. The campaign was a testament to the university's dedication to promoting community health and supporting individuals affected by this prevalent disease. At SHS, breast cancer awareness is not limited to a single event. The school maintains a year-round commitment to raising awareness, hosting discussions, and organizing empowering meetings. By promoting continuous education and support, SHS aims to create a lasting impact and foster a culture of awareness among the MUBS community.
Throughout the campaign, various activities and sessions were conducted to engage participants and spread the message of breast cancer awareness. Educational materials were strategically placed across the campuses to provide information about prevention, early detection, and available resources. Additionally, participants were encouraged to wear pink attire as a symbol of support and unity. Pink ribbons, a global symbol of breast cancer awareness, were distributed to staff, patients, students, and visitors. These ribbons served as a visible reminder of the campaign's message and helped spark conversations about breast health. Furthermore, the School of Health Sciences students organized a bake sale, with the proceeds going towards community-building activities and future awareness initiatives.
MUBS remains steadfast in its commitment to breast cancer awareness, education, support, policies, screening, and treatment. Through educational materials, symbolic pink attire, social media engagement, pink ribbon distribution, and a bake sale, the campaign raised awareness, empowered survivors, and emphasized the importance of early detection. MUBS continues to prioritize breast cancer support and remains dedicated to creating a healthier future for all.
This event affirms MUBS's commitment to UN sustainable development goals, specifically, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 17 (Building Partnerships).
